Which football matches are free?
Free-to-air DTT channels regularly show football without a subscription. TF1 and M6 often share France national-team matches and the big World Cup and Euros nights. France Télévisions also broadcasts national-team games, women's football and some Coupe de France finals. These broadcasts are free, live and on catch-up, via DTT and the TF1+, 6play and france.tv platforms.
| Channel | Platform | Football shown (indicative) |
|---|---|---|
| TF1 | TF1+ | France matches, big World Cup / Euros ties |
| M6 | 6play | France matches, major tournament games |
| France Télévisions | france.tv | National teams, women's football, Coupe de France finals |
What is not free
To be clear: the whole of Ligue 1, the full Champions League, LaLiga, Serie A and the Bundesliga are not shown for free in France. For these you need a paid subscription (Ligue 1+, Canal+, beIN SPORTS, Prime Video). Any offer claiming free access to 'all football' is illegal.
How to watch for free?
You can watch free-to-air channels via a TV with a DTT aerial, or free on the TF1+, 6play and france.tv apps (mobile, tablet, computer, smart TV, box). Molotov TV also gathers these channels for free in a single app.
For whom are free channels enough?
If you mainly follow the France team and the big tournaments (World Cup, Euros), free channels can be enough. For Ligue 1, the Champions League or foreign leagues in full, you will need to add a paid subscription.
